Adopt a Koala for Christmas

Here is a feel-good present for under the Christmas tree all the way from Australia!
08 December 2009
Port Macquarie’s Koala Hospital, in New South Wales, is encouraging people to adopt a koala for Christmas.

For only AU$50 (or £25) the adoption package includes a certificate of adoption with name, the adopted koala’s photo, a short story about its life and information booklet.

The Koala Hospital is a volunteer organisation that will use money raised to treat and rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned koalas with the aim of returning them to the wild.

But if you would like to get a little closer to a koala the hospital is looking for overseas residents who would like to volunteer, and has hosted many people from all over the world.

To come to Australia for tourism purposes, or to volunteer to help at the Koala Hospital, overseas nationals must have an Australian Travel Visa.

The most popular of these visas is the ETA Visa, which can be quickly and easily applied for online.
