Australian tourist visas for World Youth Day

With as many as 500,000 attendees expected to travel to Australia for the Catholic Church's World Youth Day, travellers are encouraged to apply for their Australian tourist visas sooner rather than later.
11 April 2008
The news comes from Australian Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, who urged people attending the event to start filling out their Australian tourist visa applications now, with just three months remaining until the event begins.

Although over 10,000 Australian travel visas have already been granted to attendees, there are still many others who need to gain an Australian visa in order to access the event.

Senator Evans commented on the situation: "While the rate of applications for visas has been increasing over recent weeks, people must understand that the department cannot guarantee that applications lodged after June 1st will be processed in time for pilgrims to travel to Australia in July."

All short-term travellers to Australia requires a visa, with the fastest and easiest method of application being the Australian ETA visa. ETA-Visa's Australian ETA visa online application means that in most cases, they can be granted in seconds.
