Daybreak goes Down Under

The popular UK breakfast show Daybreak is heading to Australia and taking 100 lucky viewers with it.
29 September 2011
High-rating ITV UK morning television program Daybreak has launched a promotion that offers its viewers the chance to win a holiday to Australia courtesy of Qantas Airways and Tourism Australia.

The program, which has daily reach of 4.1 million viewers, will be relocating to Sydney via a Qantas A380 flight departing London on 4 November 2011. Entrants are required to select from one of five Aussie holiday options - Sydney and surrounds, Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road, Adelaide and Kangaroo Island, The Great Barrier Reef and Perth and the Margaret River - and write a short entry explaining why they want to visit Australia.

There are 100 spots available and ITV anticipates thousands of entries.

Tourism Australia UK spokesperson Rodney Harrex said his organisation hopes the promotion helps to attract more British tourists to Australia and educate viewers about the wide range of holiday options in the island continent.

"Daybreak has a huge audience reach and we’re delighted that the team has decided to run this promotion, filming their viewers enjoying incredible experiences in iconic locations across Australia. Building the emotional appeal to travel to Australia is crucial in a long haul market like the UK, and we know that programs like this that beam Aussie sunshine in to wintery British homes go down really well with Brits," he said.

ITV is also talking up the array of holiday options and appeals Australia offers. According to the Daybreak Down Under promotional website, the competition winners will "be welcomed by the friendly locals and get to enjoy the laidback Aussie lifestyle".

Winners will be announced on-air in October. Click here for more information or to enter the competition.

All travellers to Australia, unless they have an Australian or New Zealand passport must have an Australian Travel Visa. The most popular of these is the ETA Visa, because it can be easily and quickly applied for online.
