Queensland’s Fraser Island in spotlight for campaign

The remarkable Fraser Island on Queensland’s coast is under international spotlight thanks to several high-profile media visits and a new tourism campaign that has the combined potential to showcase the island to a huge international audience.
01 March 2011
A innovative digital marketing campaign, called Making Tracks, will show off Fraser Island and other iconic Australian destinations to an online audience of millions around the world.

The Making Tracks project saw four international musicians from YouTube's Symphony Orchestra for 2011 flown to Australia, where they were paired with four local musicians and taken on a musical journey around the country.

Each Making Tracks pair was required to collaborate and produce a piece of music, inspired by their surrounds and experiences – with the compilation and a behind-the-scenes story and experiences to screen on YouTube.

Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island hosted US-based bassoon player Samuel Blair and Melbourne indie musician Stu Cullen, whose whirlwind Making Tracks adventure took them from Canberra to Fraser Island to Noosa.

Their songs and their Fraser experience will be released online in the coming weeks, and it is hoped it will increase international tourism to the area.

All travellers to Australia, unless they have an Australian or New Zealand passport must have an Australian Travel Visa. The most popular of these is the ETA Visa, because it can be easily and quickly applied for online.
